The base map has contours 15m intervals, with additional graphics and colouring for different types of terrain and vegetation: boulder fields, scree, native woodland, plantations, pastures, etc. Munros, Corbets and Grahams are indicated by different colouring of their names. The overprint for the trail shows sections on roads highlighting possible danger points, on a track, or on visible, indistinct or not visible paths. Symbols indicate various facilities including campsites and caravan sites, youth hostels and bunk houses, mountain rescue points, car parks and petrol stations, pharmacies, post offices, banks, etc. The map has lines of the British National Grid at 1-km intervals.
The section around Quiraing is also shown enlarged to 1:15,000 for greater clarity. The map includes contact details for accommodation services, transport information, etc.
