Wine wall map of Spain and Portugal from De Long Company, size 92x61cm / 24"x36", presenting in an attractive pastel colouring wine regions according to their official classifications: in Spain DOP with sub-divisions into DOCa/DOQ, DO, VP and VC, plus IGP and VT, and in Portugal DOP, DOC, IGP and VR. The legend provides explanations of various classifications using comparisons with the AOC in France or the DOC in Italy, plus for Portugal includes lists of the regions cross-referenced to the map.
On the map, where appropriate, each region is sub-divided, e.g. Valencia into Alto Turia/ Valentino and Moscatel. The base map has colouring according the mean annual temperature, with graphics to indicate mountainous and/or forested areas, main rivers and roads, plus selected towns and locations within the wine regions.
Insets show in greater detail the subdivision of two regions of Spain, the Rioja, and the Priorat area of southern Catalonia, plus Madeira, the Azores, and the Canary Islands. Coverage also includes the wine regions of southern France adjoining the Pyrenees.
An interesting feature is the inclusion of latitude lines to provide comparisons with other wine growing areas, e.g. at 38°30’ north the Jerez-Xèrés-Sherry region lies at the same latitude as the Napa Valley in California. The map is supplied with a separate leaflet which provides an alphabetical index of the wine growing regions. Map legend and all the text are in English.
