The Kimberley region in northern Western Australia, between the border with Northern Territory and Broome, including the Great Northern Highway, described by Moon Adventure Publication in a spiral-bound guide slightly larger than A5, illustrated with numerous maps.
An introductory section to the area, covering its history and fauna/flora, is followed by advice on planning and preparation. The region is then described in seven chapters: Around Halls Creek, Eastern Kimberley, Mitchell Plateau and Northern Kimberley, Gibb River Road, East along the King Leopold Ranges. Derby to Fitzroy Crossing, plus Broome and its Surrounds. Each chapter is accompanied by map(s) of its interesting area(s), showing the road network including 4WD tracks with symbols indicating local facilities. Where useful, accompanying text provides GPS coordinates for road junctions, camping grounds and recreational sites, etc.
Descriptions of locations include advice on recreational possibilities, accommodation, etc, and include useful website addresses and/or contact details for 4WD tours, recreational sites/providers, accommodation, etc. The index lists both locations and accommodation, sites for recreational pursuits, etc.
