Stanfords is proud to support Adrian Quick and his son as they set off around Europe for the 'Crumball Rally' – the cross-country race for cheap old bangers. Adrian hopes to raise £5,000 for children’s charity Facing the World, helping children from across the globe get the surgery they need to help them overcome their disfigurement.
Facing the World was set up by some of the UK’s leading craniofacial surgeons so that children in desperate need, living without hope in the world’s poorest countries, can have access to the very best surgery that can transform their faces and radically change their quality of life. The amazing work of the children’s charity was highlighted in the Channel 4 documentary, ‘My New Face’.
The rules of the Crumball Rally mean that each entrant has to take part in a car bought for less than £200. Adrian’s team will drive a 1988 Nissan Sunny, bought for £125, along the 1,000-mile ‘Italian Job’ route – through France, Switzerland, North Italy and Turin, and finally to Monte Carlo – using maps supplied by Stanfords. On arrival, they’ll swiftly turn around to return home where they’ll sell the car at auction to top up their total. They hope to achieve it all in four days.
