Away Fae Home: Cycling From Surrey to Scotland

Away Fae HameTomorrow (9th November), five Film Production students from the University for the Creative Arts will embark on an epic 400-mile cycle ride from their Farnham campus in Surrey to Dumfries in Scotland.

Alasdair Gordon, Charlotte Hemsley, Dominic Durham, Joe Gilbert and Sebastian Eyre are the hardy souls embarking on the challenge to raise money for their graduation film, Away Fae Hame, which will be shot on location in south-west Scotland.

The production will tell the story of a young boy who struggles growing up in the face of fierce sibling rivalry, with 25 per cent of the group’s fundraising efforts being donated to Youth Alive, a charity working with disadvantaged young people in Dumfries.

Stanfords is delighted to sponsor the epic cycle challenge, which is split into six stages: Farnham to Oxford, Oxford to Birmingham, Birmingham to Manchester, Manchester to Lancaster, Lancaster to Penrith and Penrith to Dumfries.

To help the team achieve their goal of arriving in Dumfries on Thursday (15th November), we’ve donated a range of equipment and cycle accessories including a Trek First Aid Kit, a FreeLoader Charger and a Waterproof Phone Pouch.

You can keep up to date with the cyclists’ progress on the Stanfords YouTube channel, which will feature an introduction to the team and highlights from each stage. We’ll also be publishing the video updates below.
