We appreciate that unlike the A4 planning map pdf/TIFF users, vector map customers have a wide range of priorities when it comes to speed, convenience, cost, on the ground coverage, file format and OS Licences. For this reason we offer 3 distinct services:

1.VectorMap through Stanfords Portal

This the best option for customers requiring large-scale vector map data under Ordnance Survey's Internal Business Use (IBU) Licence. IBU allows customers unlimited usage of the data for 1 year but at the end of this year the data must be either repurchased or deleted from systems; the mapping is supplied in CAD compatible formats such as dxf and dwg or as a GIS compatible shapefile. For customers requiring standard planning application areas, the site offers 1,4,9,25 hectare pre-defined sections that are "cut out" automatically by the system and this is therefore the quickest, easiest and most cost effective way to buy standard sized vector map data. For those customers requiring site-specific areas, Stanfords Portal also offers a sophisticated user-defined tool that allows customers the freedom to either cut out an irregular polygon, draw a square or rectangle or even upload a shapefile.

• The data is fully licensed and usage is governed by Ordnance Survey's Internal Business Use Licence (IBU).
• The site offers a range of additional and complimentary datasets such as imagery and 1m/2m/5m height data.
• Users have unlimited access to free training and support from our Manchester Service Centre.

2. OS Sitemap through Desktop Mapping

This is the best option for customers who need large-scale vector map data under Ordnance Survey's Plan Design Build (PDB) Licence. As with Stanfords Portal, Desktop Mapping allows users to define their own areas of coverage and also preview the map data before purchase. Under PDB the data costs a little more than IBU so should only be taken where relevant. That said if you plan to share the data with consultants or wish to archive it after the licence term expires for professional indemnity purposes this modest increase represents excellent value for money not least in terms of peace of mind that you are fully OS Licence compliant.

• Registration usually takes one or two working days.
• Purchased maps are available for immediate download from your own secure download area.
• The data is fully licensed and usage is governed by either Ordnance Survey's Internal Business Use (IBU) or Plan Design Build (PDB) Licences.
• Unlike Stanfords Portal the data is only supplied in dxf format although it is fairly straightforward for users to convert this into dwg if necessary.
• The site is unique in offering OS 1:10,000 Landplan product.
• Users have unlimited access to free training and support from our Manchester Service Centre.

3. Both VectorMap or OS Sitemap through our Service Centre

Our Service Centre is primarily focused on offering training and support to our large and growing number of self-serve customers. However the team do still offer an ordering service either for one-off customers, those customers who order sporadically (and therefore don't want to invest the time to learn a new system) or those customers who are simply too busy to self-serve and therefore prefer to outsource the work. As a result the mapping costs slightly more from our Service Centre to reflect the work required by us to produce it. Orders can be placed by telephone, email or fax and are usually dispatched the same day. As with Desktop Mapping the data can be supplied as regular or irregular shapes and under both Ordnance Survey licences.
