Ending World Waste

A conversation with three environmental activists

Ending World Waste

David SmithCome and meet three inspirational people looking at different ways we can help the environment.

Author David Smith will start by explaining how much we waste and what is in our waste. Website founder Lionel Smith will talk about how to reduce plastic litter in the environment, and (The Plastic) Baglady, Shirley Lewis, will use a Stanfords globe to give her unique perspective on the challenge we are facing; she will show how, by living ASAP (as sustainably as possible) your life can be far more fun and fairer on the planet.

David Smith is a lifelong teacher and is author of a curriculum for teachers, “Mapping The World By Heart”, and also of the worldwide bestselling children’s book, If The World Were A Village, which has been published in 18 languages. He will happily sign copies of his book on the night for you.

Lionel SmithLionel Smith is an environmental science graduate who, during a career break in 2007 to travel around the globe he encountered waste plastic in almost every natural environment. Motivated by what he'd seen, he created the website 24 hours on planet earth to focus attention on the issue of plastic currently in the environment and a possible way to remove it.

The Plastic Bag Lady(The Plastic) Baglady, Shirley Lewis, works with the media, and all kinds of people and organisations around the world, to rid our beautiful planet of the litter, rubbish, and waste we have created.
