Stanfords at the University of Bristol
Francesco da Mosto presenter and author of the hugely popular BBC2 series and tie-in books Francesco's Kitchen, Francesco's Italy and Francesco's Venice, is back. Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage is a fabulous fusion of history, culture and travel.
Francesco takes us around the Mediterranean Sea to discover the cities and islands where Western civilisation was born, and brings the past vividly to life.
Starting from his home in Venice, he crosses the Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean seas to Istanbul, taking in the spectacular ruins along the way such as the Acropolis in Athens and the Lycian Tombs in Turkey.
Francesco also explores the breathtakingly beautiful islands of Corfu and Santorini and visits a number of sacred sites including the monasteries of Meteora and Selimiye. He brings to life the flavours, history, customs and legends of the places he visits, and delves into the lives and dreams of the people he meets along the way.
The talk will be held at The Powell Lecture Theatre, HH Wills Physics Lab, Tyndall Ave, Bristol BS8 1TL.
