Brightly coloured physical map with three insets showing the political, natural vegetation and annual rainfall maps of the continent. Topography is shown by bright elevation colouring, with spot heights and names main peaks, plus names of geographical features such as mountain ranges and deserts. Internal administrative boundaries are not shown, but names of some of the regions and provinces are indicated, e.g. Katanga or some of the South African provinces. Principal roads, railways and airports are marked, with towns graded by population, although overall the map contains comparatively fewer places names.

Coverage extends eastwards to include the whole of the Arabian Peninsula and most of Iran, but without any elevation colouring. Latitude and longitude grid is at 5° intervals. Cape Verde Islands are included only on the political inset, on which countries are shown with their capitals and principal centres of population. Two more insets show the annual rainfall and natural vegetation of the continent.
