In this revised edition of Rother’s hiking guide around Mont Blanc are 49 carefully-selected tours which are almost exclusively tailored to the pleasure-oriented mountain hiker.
Some of the tours lead close to cliffs and ice, and many naturally touch on the summits, which are worth the trip, but none exceed the 3000-metre mark. In addition, Hartmut Eberlein describes the popular "Tour du Mont Blanc": 17 stages, which can also be walked by novice hikers.
The guide includes a tour description; coloured hiking maps to a scale of 1:50 000 with the course of the route illustrated; a brief, thorough description of the trail; and a colour photo for each of the 50 recommended tours aid the hiker in the planning as well as the execution of his or her excursion. Several tips and pieces of information enhance this entirely successful hiking guide to make it a valuable companion through the fascinating mountain world all around Mont Blanc
About this series:
Rother Walking Guides were first published in 1920- since then Bergverlag Rother have continued to produce these comprehensive guides to “the finest valley and mountain walks”.
Each book has a detailed description of walks, small walking maps and many tips on combining the walks, places of interest, accommodation and public transport; the guides are all in full colour with varying scales and types of cartography - the walks themselves vary from day-long hikes to mountain and valley walks, with varying levels of ease and difficulty indicated.
Small enough to fit in your pocket, comprehensive enough to take you everywhere; the books are printed in paperback but with a polytex-laminated cover, making them extremely durable too.
- Raised relief map of Mont Blanc:*
Institute Géographique National, French national survey organization, is renowned for their excellent series of 3-D plastic maps, including a spectacular map of the Mont Blanc massif at 1:50,000 of both the horizontal and, unsusually for such maps, the vertical scale. Coverage of the whole of the French Alps is available at a variety of scales. Unfortunately, due to frequent damage in transit to our customers, we are unable to offer these maps on our website. The Mont Blanc map is available as regular stock, and all others can be ordered for collection from our London shop. Please contact us by e-mail for a full list of titles.
