The Battle of Guadalcanal is considered to have been a turning point in the battle for the Pacific. After months of Success the Japanese advance was halted. This map details the six-month campaign for control of Guadalcanal, from the initial landings in on 7th August 1942 to Jan 1943. Shows the routes taken by US marines and the main Japanese bivouac areas. Also marks the different front lines that existed throughout January 1943. Around the edge of the map there are black and white photographs an aerial photograph showing "Bloody Ridge" and a brief history of the campaign.
