One of a series of attractive historical county maps by John Speede dating from about 1610-1611. The towns and villages are marked by little drawings, with features such as hills and forests shown likewise, and some rivers are also shown. Place names appear in the spelling used at the time, which can be different from today's. Blank areas on these maps are usually filled in with illustrations of particular towns, heraldic coats of arms, or just loads of swirly writing! Altogether this is a pleasing item suitable for framing.
