Berlin Panoramic Map and Street Plan

An unusual and welcome alternative to standard street plans, this map provides both a conventional plan for exploring Berlin and an interesting bird’s eye view the city centre.

Hand-drawn by Ruben Atoyan, the artist who produced several such plans ranging from Venice to the Polish cities of Cracow and Gdansk, the beautiful 3-D map shows buildings drawn to scale with full architectural details. 185 sites are numbered on the picture and identified in English and German.

On the reverse is a conventional street map, at 1:17,000, providing wider coverage of both the western and eastern parts of the city. The map shows S and U-Bahn lines and stations, bus routes, one-way streets, car parks, pedestrian zones, notable buildings, museums, embassies, emergency services, places of worship and the former course of the Berlin Wall. The index is in a booklet attached to the map jacket.

This excellent combination of two different ways of presenting a city was chosen as the best map of 2006 at the European conference of the International Map Trade Association in Salzburg in February 2007.
