The amount of information offered depends upon the size and popularity of the waterway, but usually there is a brief history of the waterway, contact information, advice on related and nearby sights and suggested further reading. Throughout the book there are detailed maps of the main waterways and canal networks and colour photographs. An atlas section at the back of the book provides a complete overview of all the Britain's waterways: Broad, narrow, tidal, fresh water, navigable, unnavigable and under restoration.
