One of the titles in a series of tourist maps covering a selection of France’s administrative departments, produced by the Institut Géographique National in collaboration with the local authorities to highlight different types of accommodation, centres of local produce and handicraft, places of interest, various leisure and sport facilities, as well as local footpaths, the GR routes, etc. Each map has the same number as the department, corresponding to the first two digits of its postal code. Cartography and tourist overprint vary - please see individual entries for more detailed descriptions and samples of cartography.
On this map: one of the most interesting parts of the Massif Central, with the regional park around the extinct volcanoes of the Auvergne. The map is designed to highlight the department’s recreational and sport facilities, including hand gliding, climbing walls, and particularly fishing, with the overprint marking public and private fish ponds, carp fishing by night, accommodations with fishing facilities, etc. GR hiking paths, horse riding trails, and recommended cycling tours are marked. The map has contours and very effective relief shading. There are no geographical coordinates. Map legend includes English. The whole of the reverse side is filled with list of accommodation facilities, contact addresses of various recreational centres, etc. The text is in French only.
