One of the titles in a series of tourist maps covering a selection of France’s administrative departments, produced by the Institut Géographique National in collaboration with the local authorities to highlight different types of accommodation, centres of local produce and handicraft, places of interest, various leisure and sport facilities, as well as local footpaths, the GR routes, etc. Each map has the same number as the department, corresponding to the first two digits of its postal code. Cartography and tourist overprint vary - please see individual entries for more detailed descriptions and samples of cartography.

On this map: hiking, horse riding and cycling routes throughout the department, including Île de Ré and Île d’Oléron. Also marked are 16 special nature watching sites and 10 military forts, all with brief descriptions. A separate inset at 1:50,000 shows cycling routes and sightseeing circuits around La Rochelle. The map has no geographical coordinates. Map legend and all the text are in French only.
