A large map, proving a useful alternative by presenting the whole country on one side at a good scale of 1:400,000. Road detail includes untarred roads and 4x4 tracks, with intermediate driving distances marked on many routes. Main railway and ferry connections are marked and symbols show airports, harbours and marinas. Relief is shown by attractive hill-shading with spot heights for selected peaks and volcanoes. Swamps, waterfalls and hot springs are marked. National park, nature reserves and Indian reservation are shown, as well as local administrative boundaries and names of the provinces. Symbols highlight various landmarks and places of interest, e.g. campsites, archaeological sites, botanical gardens, viewpoints, outdoor leisure facilities such as golf courses, equestrian centers, watersport sites, etc.

A small inset at 1:100,000 shows Isla del Coco. The map is indexed and has a latitude and longitude lines marked at 30’ intervals and a multilingual map legend which includes English.
