Double sided, indexed road map on durable, waterproof paper dividing the region into east and west sections, with a generous overlap of content. The map combines clear road and tourist detail with relief indicated by contours, altitude and bathymetric tinting, and spot heights. Salt pans, swamps, periodic water bodies, oases and reefs are indicated. Road detail distinguishes untarred roads and selected tracks, and also shows high passes, intermediate driving distances on main roads and locations of petrol stations. Main railways, ferries, airports, airfields and harbours are indicated, and a further range of symbols depicts a variety of features and landmarks e.g. various antiquities, ruins and places of interest, campsites, wells, hotsprings, wells, lighthouses, mosques, churches, viewpoints and caves. National parks and regional boundaries and names are also marked. Longitude and latitude lines are drawn at 1° intervals. The map is indexed for place names and national parks/reserves. The legend is in English and German.

Although clearly legible on the map, the lower contrast of these details may make them appear less obvious on the reproduction of the cartography presented here.
