40,000km of railways in France, train connections in the adjoining areas of the neighbouring countries, insets showing metro and tram lines within 26 towns and cities including Paris, Brussels and Geneva, and contact details for all urban networks. Published in cooperation with the SNCF, the main map shows the railway network from TGV (see below) to special tourist routes, like the famous picturesque line connecting Nice and Digne-les-Bains, distinguishing between the electrified and non-electric lines. Also indicated are supplementary bus services run by the SNCF to locations without a rail connection, plus other connections to seaside and winter sport resorts, spas, and selected well know places of interest. Towns with bus, tram and metro networks are highlighted. The base map shows the road network and the administrative division of the country into regions, with departmental boundaries also indicated.
Two large insets show the Ile de France in greater detail, plus Metro and RER networks within the Paris conurbation. Smaller insets show the metro and tram networks of 20 towns in France, plus Brussels, Basle, Geneva and the Hendaye to San Sebastian local line. On the reverse there are full contact details for all the regional rail networks within France, arranged by administrative regions, plus similar information for the neighbouring countries, including National Rail Enquiries and London Transport in UK. There are also tables showing contact information for airports, the islands around the French coast, spas, seaside and winter sport resorts, and main tourist sites such as Disneyland or even Pont du Gard. Map legend and all the text are in French only.
Please note:
The map was published before the opening in summer 2007 of the TGV Est route and that line is still shown as in construction and without stops.
