Istanbul at 1:7,500 on a street plan from GeoCenter, with an enlargement of city’s famous bazaar, a diagram of the metro/tram network and a small map of the environs. Ferry piers and connections are prominently marked.
In the old part of Istanbul the plan extends north beyond the city walls to the motorway bridge across the Golden Horn, along the coast beyond the Yenikapi area and west to Seyit Nizam park. East of the Golden Horn coverage extends beyond Taksim Square to Besiktas and the Dolmabahçe Palace. Also included is part of the Asian side, from the ferry piers at Üsküdar to the railway station.
The plan shows the tram line linking the old historic district with the city’s most visited sights to Beyoglu across the Galata Bridge, with names of stops prominently displayed. Ferry piers and routes are clearly marked and metro stations are also shown. Principal traffic arteries are highlighted. Public buildings, including historic monuments such as Hagia Sophia are clearly indicated and named. Cartography is from Falk Verlag, one of the best known publishers of street plans. Multilingual map legend includes English.
Street index is on the reverse of the map and includes lists of museums and galleries, main sights and public buildings, places of worship, youth hostels, etc, as well as emergency numbers and useful addresses. Also provided are an enlargement showing in detail the dense network of streets and passages in the famous bazaar, a diagram of the metro/tram network and a small road map of the city’s environs showing access to the international airport and the bridges across the Bosphorus.
