The Rough Guide Map to Italy gives detailed road network mapping combined with topographic information, making it ideal both for route planning and touring. Several levels of road colouring show motorways, dual carriageways, primary, secondary and smaller local roads. Railways and car ferry routes are also shown. Distances between key locations are marked roadside in kilometres. Additional road features such as tunnels & high passes

The map includes a detailed place name index, and an easy to use legend. National borders are clearly marked, national parks and restricted areas are shown, and symbols mark airports and border crossings. Contours, multi-level relief highlighting and some spot heights indicate topography. A latitude/longitude grid separates the map at 1° intervals (WGS-84 coordinates) and an additional grid separates the map for index referencing.

Rough Guide maps are exceptionally durable, printed on a special waterproof and tear-proof synthetic paper that is produced in a low-waste, low-chemical process - more energy-efficient than normal paper manufacture - and is recyclable.

A wealth of symbols mark points of tourist interest, including museums, historical monuments, castles & forts, churches, viewpoints and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Filling stations and some other roadside services are shown.
