Italy on a large, double-sided map at 1: 800,000 from MairDumont, including 26 street plans and an extensive index in a separate booklet attached to the map cover. The northern side of the map includes the whole of Switzerland and the alpine part of Austria, with coverage extending from Strasbourg, Stuttgart and Munich to the whole of Tuscany and Umbria. Genereous overlap is provided on the southern side.
Maps in the MairDumont’s Marco Polo series have a special fold-out flap in the map jacket providing an overview of the whole area and highlighting popular locations, with the grid reference system in the margins making it easier to find places on the main map. A set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers, removable without damaging the map surface, is provided for making selected locations more prominent when navigating.
Topography is shown by relief shading with spot heights and plenty of names of local mountain chains, peaks and passes, etc. Road network indicates motorway toll stations and services, % gradients on steep routes, seasonal closures, etc. Scenic routes are highlighted. Railway lines are included and ferry routes from the mainland to the islands are marked.
The map highlights numerous places worth visiting, both picturesque towns, villages or cultural sights and natural features such as mountains, passes, etc. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30’. The index in separate booklet attached to the map cover lists locations with postcodes and provides information on traffic regulations and emergency numbers. Multilingual map legend includes English.
The map is surrounded by street plans covering the central areas of Turin, Milan, Verona, Bolzano, Trento, Padua, Venice, Udine, Trieste, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Perugia, Ancona, Pescara, Rome, Naples, Campobasso, Bari, Potenza, Catanzaro, Cagiliari, Palermo and Catania, plus Ajaccio on Corsica and Monaco/Monte Carlo.
Please note: the same map but without the additional features to aid route planning and navigation is also available from GeoCenter.
