The main, double-sided map of the whole country presents its road and rail networks on a base with relief shading and spot heights to show the topography and combinations of colouring and graphics to indicate different types of vegetation. The map also shows local administrative borders with names of the provinces, as well as boundaries of national parks and other protected areas.

Historic towns, beautiful lakes and natural curiosities are highlighted, with symbols indicating various other places of interest, including temples, archaeological sites, etc. The map has a latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 10’. The index list only selected tourist sites. Map legend includes English.

Enlargements are provided for the country’s most visited parts: the Mekong Falls and the Plain of Jars - Phonsavan area at 1:200,000, plus the environs of Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng at 1:150,000.

Also included are street plans of main cities, all annotated with symbols indicating various places of interest, accommodation and other facilities: Vientiane at 1:30,000 with the downtown area at 1:12,000, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Thakhek, Savannakhet and Pakse. Further insets show the crossing points to northern Thailand: the Houay Xay (Houei Sai) area and the Friendship Bridge south of Vientiane.
