The Rough Guide city map of Los Angeles is printed on durable water-proof paper and protected by a waterproof folder. The main map of central LA is at approx 1:33,000. It is centred on Hancock Park and extends Hollywood Hills in the north, Crenshaw in the south, Chinatown in the east and UCLA in the west. On the reverse the coverage continues south-westwards to reach Brentwood, Santa Monica, Venice & Marina Del Rey districts. Also there are larger scale plans of Downtown, Pasadena, part of Santa Monica (3rd St Promenade area) & Ocean Park (Main St area). There is also a plan showing local bus routes in Downtown.

A general map at about 1:380,000 extending over most of the city & suburbs shows the main road and Metro network.

A list of recommended venues for shopping, entertainment, eating and drinking is cross-referenced to colour-coded map locations, and the map is also indexed for the main sights, parks, notable buildings, hostels and hotels. In addition to such details, the maps also show car parks, tourist information offices, post offices, police stations, hospitals, railways, bus stations, bus routes and the Metro network.

The map is indexed for streets and includes a chart presenting opening times of main attractions and places of interest.

Twenty places not to miss in Los Angeles are highlighted on the inside of the folder, which also shows a city centre map for quick reference.
