Mallorca is the Sunflower Landscapes guide to exploring the best walking and touring possibilities on the island. The guide covers a range of routes including walks in Sant Elm, Galatzo, Santa Eugenia, Cuber Lake and the Es Barranc circuit. A double-sided, fold-out touring map of Mallorca gives an overview of the island and the locations of each walk. Detailed information about touring by hired car or public transport, as well as on foot, is provided, helping walkers to navigate and plan day-trips. Shorter strolls are also included as an alternative for each main route for those seeking more leisurely days out.
The guide is structured in two main parts – Touring and Walking – that explore each route with detailed references to public transport and car directions to make each walk more accessible. 6 Car-touring routes are included, covering the South-west, Mountain Villages, The Mountains and the Cape, Villages off the Beaten track and the Far East, Caves and Monasteries and Southern Resorts and the Puig de Randa. Each describes a route by car with suggestions for stop-off places and things to see on the way, including any picnicking sites. 26 suggestions for the best picnic stops are included at the start of the book and these are cross-referenced with the fold-out map and walk descriptions.
The ‘Walking’ section includes 32 recommended walks, many of which are circular tours. A detailed introduction provides information on waymarking and maps, what to take, weather, dogs and other nuisances, where to stay, language hints for walkers in Spanish and Malloquin and island customs. Each walk begins with information about distance, difficulty grading, waymarking, how to get there, suggested clothing and equipment, language hints and shorter and alternative routes to the main walk. Appendices provide information on Transport Timetables. Colour photographs and adapted Balearic Military Survey extracts accompany each route.
