The walks range from one to six hours in duration and are coded according to the difficulty of the terrain. The route of each walk is highlighted on colour extracts from IGN’s1:25,000 topographic survey of the island and has descriptions of various points of interest indicated on the maps. All the text is in French but a lot of information is conveyed by symbols. The opening 41 pages of the guide contain sections on history and geography (including the 1902 eruption of the Pelée volcano), plus flora and fauna, all illustrated with numerous photos and drawings.
