Relief is portrayed by contours at 50m intervals, and colours show terrain variations: savanna, swamp, thicket and scrub. Roads and tracks are marked and intermediate distances are stated. Symbols show lodges, camps, airstrips, reserve gates and offices. Beyond the reserve boundary, relief and terrain information is omitted. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 10’ intervals and an inset map showing the location of the park from Nairobi. The legend is in English only and the map is indexed for accommodation and selected important features. In addition to the wildlife identification lists and small drawings of mammals, there is a brief explanation of the wildebeest migration and some further text on the reserve and its attractions.
