Netherlands’ extensive network of sign-posted cycling routes, overprinted on detailed road maps at 1:75,000 from ANWB, the country’s main motoring and touring organization. The network consists of numbered junctions, joined by sign-posted connecting routes in either direction. At each junction there is an information panel showing an overview map of the whole network with the junction numbers. A second panel shows all the intersections directly connected to that junction. The system enables the cyclists to plan their own routes by preparing a list of junction numbers through which they want to travel.

The maps are double-sided and provide a detailed picture of the country’s road network, indicating separate cycle paths along main roads, unmetalled roads, and routes closed to either motorized traffic or to cyclists. In addition to junction numbers for the cycle network, the maps also show the numbers of ANWB’s “paddestoelen” (mushrooms) - numbered roadside markers placed at junctions of small country roads to assist navigation and often omitted on less detailed maps. Steep roads have gradient marking. The overprint also indicates which sections of the network are part of the LF long-distance cycling routes.

Railway lines are shown with stations and the maps also indicate ferry connections for motorized traffic and cycles/pedestrians across rivers and canals. Land use is shown by colouring indicating build up and industrial areas, glasshouses, woods and parks, heath land, and sand dunes, with national parks highlighted. A wide range of symbols show various facilities and attractions (campsites and youth are not included).

The maps have in the margins Dutch national grid coordinates. Map legend and all the text are in Dutch only. Most titles have no index.

Additional features vary: some titles have an index listing all localities with their coordinates and/or provide coordinates and operating months for local ferries across canals. Other titles provide addresses and coordinates for cycle repair facilities or brief descriptions and contact details for various places of interest.

The same mapping is also available in ANWB’s two Cycling Atlases of the Netherlands.
