Pocket-size, spiral-bound atlas, with overview maps of the three national parks and a basic phrasebook. The atlas uses the cartography of the publisher’s World Mapping Project, available from our website in a folded map format in its Rough Guides edition. The altitude colouring used in the atlas is slightly bolder when compared with the map version, presenting a more vivid picture the terrain. Selected peak heights and pass are marked.
Road network includes minor roads and selected local tracks and paths. Railway lines are marked, as well as boundaries of national parks, military camps, and administrative districts. Towns of particular interest are highlighted, with symbols indicating various places of interest, viewpoints, sport and recreational facilities, etc. Latitude and longitude grid is at 15’ intervals. Map legend includes English. Also included are overview plans of the area’s three national parks, Pyrenees NP on the French side, and Ordesa and Aiguës Tortes in Spain. The atlas has an index of place names, and a tri-lingual phrasebook, French to English and German.
SAMPLE OF CARTOGRAPHY
NB. Some elements of the cartography, e.g. minor roads and contours, are printed relatively faintly compared with other details such as major roads. Although clearly legible on the map, the lower contrast of these details may make them appear less obvious on the reproduction of the cartography presented here.
