A touring map of the western Alps between Lake Geneva and Nice, highlighting the Route des Grandes Alpes, the main road(and its variants) through the French Alps connecting Thonon-les-Bains to Menton. Vivid hill shading represents the general relief, peak heights are marked and the passes and their altitudes along the route are shown. Road detail includes motorway rest / service areas and toll barriers and selected prohibited routes and minor roads. Main railways are marked, also airports and airfields. Symbols depict various landmarks and tourism features, eg. churches, cathedrals, antiquities, viewpoints, winter sport resorts, and places of interest. Tourist information locations and national parks and nature reserves are also shown. There is cross-section vertical profile diagram of the route and the map gives telephone numbers for tourist and road condition information, as some of the passes often remain closed until mid-June. Map legend and the text include English.
An excellent map not only for touring the French Alps by car but also for anyone daydreaming of triumphs in the Tour de France.
