Cycling trail across the Roztocze region of south-western Poland to Lviv in the Ukraine. The trail, approx. 250km long, was waymarked with the help from the EU regional fund and weaves its way gently across some of Poland’s most picturesque and unspoiled countryside from Krasnik, just south of Lublin, to Lviv in western Ukraine.
The whole trail is covered on five concertina maps presenting the route on 24x20cm panels. The Polish section is shown at 1:50,000, and across the Ukraine the scale is 1:100,000. Colouring clearly indicates road surface, distinguishing between concrete or paved sections, tarmac, other types of hard surface, and unpaved dirt roads. Intermediate distances are marked throughout and possible danger points are clearly indicated.
The base map has exceptionally clear cartography with contours at 10m intervals, indicating built-up areas and isolated houses; woods, orchards and meadows; boundaries of national and regional parks, etc. Local roads are clearly graded, railway lines are shown with stations, bus stops are marked, and adjoining other cycling trails, hiking routes and canoeing trails are also included.
A very wide range of symbols indicate different types of accommodation (hotels, campsites, youth hostels, agritourism farms), restaurants and bars, medical facilities, numerous and varied places of interest, etc. Within Ukraine, place names are shown in Roman alphabet only. Map legend includes English.
On the reverse of each of the five maps, the route is presented in profile, again indicating road surface, and divided into sections corresponding to road distances marked on the main map. The accompanying text describing various places of interest and lists of local accommodation facilities with full contact details are in Polish only, but the amount of detail provided on the maps and their excellent cartography make this set of maps very easy to use given its English legend.
