National parks and other protected areas are highlighted. The altitude tinting varies, with the Andes and the Venezuelan highlands on the north-western sheet in bold bright colours, while the two remaining maps have more subdued presentation. The maps have a latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 1º.

The map shows the road and rail networks, highlighting the Pan-America and Transamazonica Highways and indicating numerous local landing strips, particularly in the more remote parts of the interior. Important places of interest are highlighted. The islands of San Andrés and Providencia, plus Isla Margherita are shown enlarged on small insets. The map has lists of protected areas in various countries and brief notes on places of interest, but does not include an index of localities.
