Large road map of North Western South America reaching as far south as San Miguel de Tucumán in Argentina and as far east as Ascuncion, Paraguay. The Galapagos Islands are included in an inset. The base map uses some hill-shading to portray the relief without distracting from the road detail. Heights of significant peaks are indicated and many rivers and highland ranges are named. Salt pan and marsh areas are also distinguished on the map, although the map legend neglects to identify these elements.
Communication detail includes railways, ferry routes and airports, and intermediate driving distances are indicated on main roads. No distinction is made between surfaced and unsurfaced main roads, although some minor routes are classed as tracks. Where main roads meet the edge of the map the distance to next major location is stated. National parks, reservations and international boundaries are marked and coloured symbols highlight selected sites of interest. Latitude & longitude lines are drawn at 2° intervals.

The map is indexed and also includes street plans of central Lima, Bogota, Caracas and La Paz. These are also indexed and show details such as bus & railway stations, information offices, hospitals and notable buildings eg. churches and museums.
