One of the titles in a series of special detailed hiking and touring maps, based on the Icelandic topographic survey, covering the most visited parts of the country. Since the administrative changes at the Icelandic survey organization, Landmælingar Islands, the maps are being gradually re-printed showing the name of Ferðakort as their publisher.
This title covers the area around Reykjavik, including Akranes, Mt Esja, the Reykjanes Peninsula, and extending east to approx. 10km beyond Selfoss. Contours at 20-metre intervals and bright relief shading give a vivid picture of the topography. Various types of terrain and vegetation are indicated, e.g. forests, swamps, cultivated land, lava flows, etc. The map shows numerous hiking trails and bridleways on which intermediate distances are marked. Symbols denote emergency shelters, campsites, huts, rest areas, golf courses, swimming pools, etc. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 2°30’ and 5’ respectively. Map legend includes English.
