Few people are aware of Sweden's colonial past in the Caribbean but this map is proof of it. The main town on St. Barthélemy was renamed Gustavia after France swapped the island in return for a warehouse in Stockholm! The map itself shows land parcel numbers, roads, hills, rivers and lakes. The headlands are named, as are the nearby islands. Churches, buildings, wells and batteries (gun emplacements) are also indicated. Reproduced on heavyweight parchment effect pape, with a generous border area.
