The Thames Path takes the walker from the Thames Barrier in London to the source of this great river 180 miles away in Rural Gloucestershire. The Thames Path was officially opened as a national trail in 1996, and has since been improved so that most of the route now runs along public footpaths or bridleways.

The Thames, once an important waterway, links a string of historic sites - from Greenwich, the Houses of Parliament and Lambeth Palace in the city, to rural Hampton Court Palace and Runnymede.

The beautiful Upper Reaches of the path run through the peaceful countryside of Oxfordshire, Wiltshire & Gloucestershire. The climax is the 22 miles of the infant Thames leading to the River’s source just below the Roman Foss Way.

Features of this guide:
- Route described in 20 sections, between 4 and 16 miles in length
- Illustrated with Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 mapping
- One of few Thames Path guides to cover the Path in the upstream direction.
