Elevation tinting in pastel shades shows the general relief, with selected mountain peak altitudes marked. International, disputed, and provincial/regional borders are all clearly marked, as are railways. Main roads are marked with their distances; connecting roads, tracks and ‘other roads’ are also shown.

Points of interests are shown, such as museums, zoos, hot springs and fortresses; swamps, salt pans, glaciers and national parks are also clearly displayed. The map grid is marked at 1’ intervals. All text is in roman script only. The map includes an index of place names. Maps of the Lhasa Valley, the Norbulingka, the Potala area and the Barkor area are shown in insets on the main map: these are not indexed.

The map is not a political map and none of the information on it has been provided by the Government of China. Much of the road information has been supplied by travelers and so as a travel map, it is ideal to assist those traveling in the region - this is not a political map designed to represent any particular political view.
