An 850km network of cycling routes in the far eastern, German speaking corner of Belgium, the Hohe Venn/Hautes Fagnes/Hoge Venen National Park, on a double-sided map based on the country’s topographic survey.
The network consists of numbered junctions, joined by sign-posted connecting routes in either direction. At each junction there is an information panel showing an overview map of the whole network with the junction numbers. A separate set of road signs shows all the intersections directly connected to that junction. The system enables cyclists to plan their own routes by preparing a list of junction numbers through which they want to travel. The overprint for the routes and the junction numbers extends across the border to Germany.
Topographic base with contours at 10m intervals and colouring to show different types of vegetation and land use is overprinted with cycling routes, indicating sections on unpaved roads, steep gradients, danger points and distances. Symbols highlight tourist information centres, railway stations, car parks, bike hire facilities, campsites and youth hostels, cafes and restaurants, museums and other places of interest.
Map legend and all other information are in German, French and Dutch only. The map has no geographical coordinates.
