The complete title is The Virgin Islands from English and Danish Surveys by Thomas Jefferys, Geographer to the King. This map was originally published in London's Fleet Street in 1775. The coverage is centred on the Virgin Islands and reaches the eastern extremity of Puerto Rico in the west, St Martin in the east and St Christopher in the south. Graphic shading shows the general relief on the islands, several channels are marked and the map is annotated with brief descriptions of selected features and locations. Latitude and longitude margin scales are drawn, diagrams show the profiles of several islands from particular bearings and there is a short explanation of the territorial claims by England , Denmark, France and Spain. Reproduced on heavyweight, parchment effect paper, with a generous border area.
