This map is packed with information about the little known continent. On one side is a map of the whole Antarctic continent indicating scientific stations, historic huts and five routes taken by explorers. Annotated with some geographical notes and brief biographies of thirty explorers. An inset shows an enlargement of Ross Island and McMurdo Sound.
On the reverse is an annotated map 1:7,000,000 of the north of Graham Land, the Scotia Sea and the southern tip of South America. Larger scale insets show South Georgia and the Danco Coast area with Anvers and Brabant Islands. A selection of photographs depict Antarctic scenes and wildlife and there is an explanation of the territorial claims on the continent and the Antarctic Treaty.
The coverage image on the right shows only one side of the map, the sample cartography is from the other side of the map.
