Contour lines at 200m intervals give some idea of the general relief, with national parks and game reserves, forest reserves, sand dunes and swamps highlighted, and particular ranges of hills named. Fewer settlements and roads are shown than on other maps at similar scales, but petrol and repairs stations, hotels, logdes and campsites, as well as places of interest are included, and an index of place names is provided.

Special features include an indexed street plan of Gaborone, an enlargement at 1:750,000 of the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park area, information panels on the country's history and its national parks, and drawings identifying local wildlife. Latitude and longitude are marked at intervals of 1 degree. The multliingual legend includes English.
