More remote routes are described in less detail, reflecting the fact that these are for the more experienced climber looking to get away from the crowds and able to make his or her own choices about the exact route to follow. This volume covers the area north of the France/Italy border and also mountains on the France/Switzerland border. Ranges covered: Chamonix Aiguilles, Aguilles Rouges, Col de Talèfre to Swiss Val Ferret.

Institute Géographique National, French national survey organization, is renowned for their excellent series of 3-D plastic maps, including a spectacular map of the Mont Blanc massif at 1:50,000 of both the horizontal and, unsusually for such maps, the vertical scale. Coverage of the whole of the French Alps is available at a variety of scales. Unfortunately, due to frequent damage in transit to our customers, we are unable to offer these maps on our website.
