One of the titles in a series of brightly coloured maps of Tanzania’s national parks and conservation areas in the publisher’s characteristic hand-drawn style of cartography. The maps include plenty of tourist information and enlargements for the most visited areas and hiking routes, with many titles providing a vivid picture of the changes to the terrain and vegetation during the dry and the wet seasons. The maps are illustrated in the margins with beautiful drawings of local flora and/or fauna and animal footprints for easy identification.

In this title: the Conservation Area, with enlargements on the reverse contrasting the Ngorongoro crater during the dry and wet seasons. The main map indicates various types of terrain and vegetation: gorges, escarpments, active or dormant volcanoes, soda lakes, cultivated areas, various types of woodlands, tall or dried grasses, etc. The map shows local roads and unpaved seasonal tracks, conservation area gates, hotels and lodges, campsites, view points, petrol stations, hospitals and clinics, etc. No geographical coordinates are given.

On the reverse two drawings contrast the Ngorongoro crater itself during the dry and wet seasons, indicating the changes in the size of Lake Magadi, the Mandusi Swamps, etc. The map is illustrated in the margins with beautiful drawings of local flora.
