Stanfords Travel Classics are a must for any one interested in travel, be it a book to join you on your journey, or to take you there from your armchair.

As a specialist travel bookseller we were inspired to put together a collection of the travel books that we really love, so we have launched a series that republishes some of the finest historical travel writing in our own branded series of paperbacks. Our expert readers have combed the archives of historical travel literature to find the very best writing from the very best writers to create this exciting series; we’ve republished these titles using striking contemporary designs, demonstrating that this historical writing is as fresh today as when it was first printed.

The world is full of places to go, things to see, and discoveries to be made - but as anyone will know there are many people who have gone before us, their writings forming the basis for many of the journeys we take, even shaping how we make them.
