Indexed tourist map of the country, with additional street plans and enlargements of Victoria Falls and other popular regions. Road detail includes selected minor roads and tracks, and shows intermediate driving distances on main routes. Railways, airports and airfields are marked. The publisher’s usual approach to conveying most effectively the best routes to the locations and regions of interest, is to reduce distracting details. Consequently, compared with some other maps for the same region, this map shows no elaborate representation of general relief, although mountain ranges are indicated and named and peak heights are marked. Main swamp areas, plains and flats are identified, and reserves and national parks are clearly highlighted. Symbols show places of interest, waterfalls, ruins, selected hotels, lodges and campsites, hospitals, and border posts. No latitude and longitude lines are marked, the map is indexed and annotated with regional climate information charts, and includes a distance chart.
On the reverse is the map of Victoria Falls at 1:30,000, showing the resort’s streets, sites of interest, tourist facilities and landmarks eg. hotels, post offices, customs posts, railways stations and park entrance gates. It is indexed for sites of interest, street names and hotels, and an additional street map extends the coverage to include more of Livingstone. There is also a similarly detailed street plan of central Lusaka at 1:20,000 which also indicates the information centre, embassies, churches, temples and markets. Regional maps show South Luangwa NP (1:500,000), Kafue NP (1:1,000,000) and Lower Zambezi NP (1:800,000) indicating more lodges, camps, sights, ranger stations, park gates, etc. There is also a road map of the Copperbelt area at 1:1,3000,000, and a small thematic map of the country simply highlighting 31 national parks.
