Mercer Walk 2 available
30 walks of varying difficulty in the vicinity of Bled, Bohinj, Kranjska and Bovec.
The Julian Alps of Slovenia in a walking guide from Cicerone Press with 58 hiking routes including a couple of multi-day itineraries, grouped geographically to provide a variety of choices for casual walkers to experienced hill walkers, and accessible from popular holiday destinations, with descriptions accompanied by colour sketch maps.
Day routes are divided into five chapters, covering the areas around Kranjska Gora (20 routes), Bohinj (11), Bovec (13), Bled (6) and Kobarid (5), and range from grade one to more difficult mountain hikes. Detailed descriptions are accompanied by panels with a summary of the route, access by public transport and map recommendations. Many descriptions are accompanied by simple colour maps, either contoured or sketch maps. An extensive introductory chapter includes general notes about the area and tips for hikers, and sections at the end of the book provide more useful information.
For all their recommended walks the publishers provide the title(s) of the relevant map(s) from the Planinska zveza Slovenije (the country’s Alpine Club) – all available from Stanfords’ website. We also offer a wider selection of hiking maps of the Julian Alps from other sources.
