A sequel of sorts to Driving over Lemons, A Parrot in a Pepper Tree combines a reflective look at Chris Stewart’s past life - from travelling with a circus in the north of England to sheep-shearing in midwinter Sweden with the continued adventures of Chris, Ana, and their daughter Chloe on their remote mountain farm.

Guiding us through their lives, organic farming and the trials and tribulations of day-to-day life in the remote mountains of the western Alpujarrias, Chris shares with us stories of domestic relations in rural Spain, Christmas underwater, environmental swimming pools complete with a carpet of frogs and the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding valleys, peaks and meadows (and how, in addition to the threat of a dam flooding the valley, one of the biggest threats to the views are the hungry stomachs of the mountain sheep).
