We’ll all, from time to time, wish we could get out of the rat race and have a go at living Tom and Barbara’s Good Life - self-sustained and environmentally-friendly. For most of us, that’s as far as the fantasy goes, but for BBC journalist and environmentalist Rory Spowers such a thought was only the beginning. Unlike Tom and Barbara, he actually left London behind and travelled to Sri Lanka with his wife and two young sons to transform a 60-acre abandoned tea estate into a model organic farm, where his livelihood would be earned from the land. In the book he chronicles the highs and lows of the 12 month project that began while aiding relief efforts after the tsunami and culminated with the launch of the business.
