Not that the sky is paying much attention but it’s the 1st of July and with the new month comes a fresh batch of travel news:

Go Sean Go!

He did it! Back in March we learned that Sean Conway was to attempt an ultra triathlon stretching the entire coast of Britain. On Friday 24th he swam to shore at Lulworth Cove as the finisher of the world’s longest triathlon. In 85 days Sean cycled over 3,350 miles, ran over 800 miles and swam over 100 miles. You can see what he went through as the documentary Sean Conway: On the Edge will air on the Discovery Channel on August 31st.

Transported by Design Festival

Transport for London are celebrating their rich history of design by having a festival on London’s Regents Street this Sunday 3rd July. The festival will stretch from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus Tube Stations and will include an exhibition of maps, signs and posters,  heritage busses, taxis and a tube carriage,  talks, and lots of art.

Passenger gets a plane all to himself

Imagine getting a plane all to yourself. There would be one kicking the back of your chair, no queue for the toilet and the ability to stretch out your legs. This dream came true for one passenger on a Delta flight from New Orleans to Atlanta. Due to lots of delays and different circumstances the other passengers had boarded different flights and as the plane had to fly anyway (known as an empty leg flight) Steven Schneider had the unique experience of being the solo passenger.

Canadians break record of most canoes and kayaks in a single lift lock

It’s a big week for Canada. Not only are they celebrating Canada Day today but they smashed the world record of getting the most canoes and kayaks into a single lift lock. As a canoe critical mass group they broke their previous record with 138 canoes and kayaks in the small space.
