Massif Central Grand Traverse (700km)

Cicerone’s guide to mountain-biking, cycling or walking the 700km GTMC, Grande Traversée du Massif Central, in southern France, from Clermont-Ferrand in the Auvergne to Montpellier and Sête on the Mediterranean.

The long-distance route is split into 17 stages, suitable for both expert and novice mountain bikers, with each stage including information on local facilities and accommodation en route, as well as historical and cultural points of interest; full-colour photos are included.

Each stage shows its distance (in miles and kilometres), with ascents and descents also highlighted (in metres and feet). Simple route maps show the routes and sections of the roads they cover, with major towns and villages marked in name only.
